Paymark is now looking a little different. We’ve undergone a rebranding, bringing us more closely into alignment with our parent company, payments powerhouse Worldline. This will magnify our local presence and allow us to leverage our Kiwi expertise using Worldline’s international clout. Owned by Worldline since November 2020, Paymark is now trading under the Worldline brand.

Why the change?

Previously part-owned by New Zealand’s largest four banks, Paymark was purchased by European-based Ingenico Group in January 2019. In late 2020, Worldline completed its acquisition of Ingenico, which included Paymark. Since that time, Paymark has been owned by Worldline and we’ve operated as Paymark: A Worldline Brand.

Now the Paymark brand is being retired and the company will come under the Worldline global brand. This provides consistency between Worldline divisions and gives our team the chance to amplify our voice in the local market.

Worldline: a global force in transaction technology

Worldline has been established for over 45 years, since its launch in France in 1973. Since then it has grown into a major force in the world of transaction technology, operating in over 50 countries and employing more than 20,000 people. Every day it facilitates transactions with more than 1 million merchants, 1,000 banks and 1,200 financial institutions. Worldline has been a publicly listed company since 2014, traded on the Euronext exchange with annual revenue of around €4.8 billion.

It offers a fantastic array of solutions across the globe, from simple EFTPOS-style transactions through to emerging fintech like IoT fleet management and Digital Doorman. Worldline brings an enormous depth of research, innovation and expertise to New Zealand, which we can apply with our understanding of local markets and customer requirements.

Farewelling the Paymark brand

The Paymark brand has been a trusted payments gateways for millions of New Zealanders since 1989. Together we’ve built an outstanding brand over the past 32 years, constantly innovating along the way to bring contactless payments, Online EFTPOSCLICK and Open APIs to the local market.

Our system processes around 70% of all New Zealand’s electronic transactions for over 45 card issuers and acquirers. With more than 150,000 terminals for over 85,000 merchants around the country, we’ve processed a total of more than 22.6 billion transactions.

What will change under the Worldline brand?

Just because we’re saying goodbye to Paymark as a brand, doesn’t mean we’re losing that depth of local expertise. You’ll notice a change to the look of our website, apps and correspondence as we switch to Worldline branding. However, everything else remains unchanged. There’s no change to our team at head office and our local customer care centre will continue to provide 24-7 support, based in New Zealand. We know this service is highly valued by our clients and this will be uninterrupted.

By becoming more closely aligned with Worldline, we will now have a stronger platform on the global stage, and more support to grow our presence in the New Zealand market. Worldline is the largest player in the European payments market and is aiming to grow and expand. Its international team provides us with huge depth of technology talent and innovation, as well as additional resources to help us solve problems and better serve all our clients.
