Online EFTPOS is a digital direct-to-bank payment service that can safely be used for web orders, phone orders, mobile payments on-the-go, and fixed onsite payments. Online EFTPOS helps businesses take real-time payments without any need to have physical contact with the customer, or to handle sensitive card information.
How it works
1. Instore and phone payment capability
Staff can take payments remotely using a smartphone or via the store’s PC from customers who bank with ASB, Westpac, Co-operative or Heartland Bank.
2. Requesting payment
Staff enter the name of the customer’s bank (either ASB, Westpac, Co-operative, or Heartland bank), the customer’s phone number and the transaction amount into the Online EFTPOS portal, either via a smartphone or the store’s PC. The transaction’s status will then appear in the portal as SUBMITTED.
3. Accepting payment
Customer receives a payment notification in their banking app. They then need to approve this payment (only available with ASB, Westpac, Co-operative, and Heartland bank customers).
4. Transaction status
Once the customer has approved the transaction in their banking app, its status will change in real-time within the Online EFTPOS portal to AUTHORISED. Staff are also able to initiate refunds.
We support several onboarding methods:
For existing Online EFTPOS merchants: no additional onboarding is required and you can use the portal with your existing logins.
For new merchants: you can register and self-onboard through a fully automated webform. This process takes approximately 15 minutes. You will need a government issued ID (e.g., driver licence) and your proof of residential address.
If you operate a franchise, please contact us as we can either bulk onboard all of your stores on your behalf or set each store up separately.
