The eftpos channel offers a wide range of innovative products and services for card issuers and acquirers, terminal system vendors and our merchant customers at point of sale.
As well as implementing new services, the eftpos channel team works with customers and industry groups to maintain the technology and system standards on which New Zealand's retail payment processing technology is based.
Our latest terminal software specification in the market is known as Version 6. It sets a new standard for eftpos terminal processing. Merchant costs are reduced since terminal encryption keys can be injected 'over the network' and there are a host of other supported features such as chip and pin processing, broadband connectivity support, enhanced message encryption and new offline processing capabilities.
Recently we implemented a new card issuer system that allows loyalty and gift cards to be processed as a standard 'purchase' transaction from any of the 100,000 eftpos terminals on the network. These transactions are accepted by Paymark and passed to the card issuer/loyalty scheme operator in real time or on a daily basis. The issuer system also features a "white label" website that can be configured by the card issuer to service the needs of their customers, online.
